Mythic History

           Lord Siva also called as Ponnarmenian (gold glittering body) wearing the tiger leather clothe in the waist - new moon and Indian laburnum flower at the hair in the head  - is the chief God of Himalayas.  His marriage with .Parasakthi, the mother of Devas, sages, mystics, Nagars and others was held at the Himalayan Mountains. The marriage pose of the divine God enjoyed by the 33 crore Devas, the three chief gods and the living beings all over the world was reperformed at this sacred place - Thiruverkadu.

Parvatha Rajan    

A king by name Parvatha Rajan ruled the kingdom in the slopes of Himalayan mountains. He has no issues. He performed intense austerities praying god to bless him with child. Then Lord Siva appeared before him and blessed him "You will have Parvathi's avathar as your daughter and she will appear on lotus". As said, while he was returning home after performing austerities he saw one female baby lying on the lotus in a pond. He took the baby and handed it over to his wife Menai. That girl  baby had grown with the name Malai Magal ( Parvatha Rajakumari - Princess of the Mountain)

When she attained age he came to know through Narathar that Lord Siva Peruman is the suitable bridegroom for his daughter. So he made arrangements for the marriage. To wittness this marriage Thirumal, Bhramma, Kings of all nations, Devas and the people in the dark world came to the palace of Paravatharajan. Since most of the world came to witness the marriage North went down and south gone up. Immediately Lord Siva ordered the saint Agasthiar to go to southern part of India restore the balance. But agasthiar felt extremely sorry and in terars since he could not witness the marriage pose of Lord Siva. For that Lord Siva consoled him i will appear before you in marriage pose at Thiruverkkadu in Thodai Nadu.

    Agasthiar reached Mount Pothigai to honour the order of Lord Siva. Then balance was restored in India. Then Agasthiar went to Thiruverkadu and prayed Lord Siva to bless him with His marriage pose as blessed. Lord Siva also blessed him with his marriage pose. Even today you can witness the scene of the marriage pose of Lord Siva and goddess Parvathi with Agasthiar seating in front of them.
