Since four vedas stood as neem trees and worshipped the Lord this place is called Neem forest (Verkadu).

            Thiruverkadu is the place where the God has shown the marriage pose to Agasthiar

             Sacred water source created by Lord Muruga with spear is called Velayutha Theertham. 

          There is no Raja gopuram (temple tower) in the east side of this temple. There is a flag staff covered by copper sheet. The front entrance is facing east. There are no sannidhis in the outer corridor around the Sanctum Sanctorum. This sacred place has got the specialty of calling it "poison free place" ( poison will not affect a person in this place).
